Tonight we celebrated the first night of Hanukkah. Ive been shopping for the last month and have 8 presents for Asher, 1 for each night. We lit the menorah a little earlier than sundown, since we Nick and I had a party to go to. We decided to give him one of his not as exciting gifts, since we were about to head out to Gigi and Poppys to drop him off for the night. This year he knew what to do and was ready to rip into the wrapping paper (with a little help from Daddy).
Such a big boy carrying that box over to me to open up.
Then we opened it up, showed him Mr. Potato Head, and he started shaking his head saying Naaa, Naaa, and walking backwards from it. He wanted nothing to do with it. I thought he would love it since he loves to point out eyes, nose, ears, mouth, etc....but I guess a potato with a face is just too freaky.
Good thing we got a "do over" for the first night at Gigi and Poppys house.
Asher brought Gigi and Poppy a homemade candle holder for the first night. He has more presents for them, but we are going to wait for our big family Hanukah celebration to exchange the rest of the gifts.
We made this (pinterest inspired) snowman fingerprint candle holder a couple of weeks ago. I learned the hard way that Asher DOES NOT like to get his hands in paint. It took about 2 hours to make this (and a different surprise present for Mimi for Christmas). We had planned to give homemade gifts to all of the family, but after 2 hours and some tears from Asher, we decided to keep it to grandparents only.
Then it was Asher's turn to open his present from Gigi and Poppy, a remote control schoolbus. Asher loves his wheels on the bus app, and always says Bus, Bus, so I knew this would be a hit (and he wasn't afraid of it like he was the Mr. Potato Head, which was a plus)
Asher got the hang of his remote control school bus very quickly! It has 2 buttons, a forward one and a turn one. The bus only turns on direction which helps to maneuver when it gets stuck! I love the way he leans slightly over when the bus comes racing past his feet, and the pride in his eyes for controlling it all by himself!
We are looking forward to 7 more nights and lots of new toys!

Oh man, I need info on that bus! Definitely need to get Waylon one too! :)
ReplyDeleteCaroline it is awesome! Waylon would love it! We got it from Amazon.com for $15.

Thanks girl! Waylon is getting a guitar this year, too, AND also has a cleaning tool obsession and is getting a Waylon-sized mop and broom! Maybe our boys can form some sort of house cleaning/ guitar playing duo! :)
