When we got to Mimi's Asher was excited to see his cousins, and even more excited to see that they brought their ipad with them! (our ipad took a nasty spill, so we have been without for about a week) The cousins + ipad kept Asher entertained allowing Nick and I to visit with family and help get dinner on the table!
Of course Christmas dinner was delicious. We never have a bad meal over at Mimis, its always delicious southern home cooking! After dinner Asher was getting a little antsy and fussy. He kept walking around saying Ha-koo, ha-koo (still associates presents with Hanukkah even though we kept telling him it was Christmas) and was frustrated that we would not let him open his presents, and probably starting to feel the effects of 3 late nights in a row, combined with a day full of excitement.
Finally, we were cleaned up from dinner and ready for the gift exchange extravaganza. Every year the kids hand out all the presents to everyone around the room, and its just a gift opening free for all. So much fun! This was a different experience for Asher from this morning, and he was very distracted by all the people opening up so many presents, so Nick and I had to help him out a little!
Once everyone was finished opening their presents it was time for Asher to open his BIG present from Mimi! He tore the paper off that gift, walked around it, gave us a big ole cheese face and just climbed on the box!
He was a little upset that we would not open the box and let him play with it right then and there, but the big print on the front of the box that said 100+ pieces let Nick and I know that we had a long night of assembly ahead of us it was not a good idea to open that box!
We made it home, put the baby to bed, and then Nick and I put our elf hats back on to assemble his new train table.
It was a FABULOUS and memorable Christmas...I have a feeling they are going to get better and better each year!
