Even though Hanukkah was last month, we decided to do our annual Issenberg family Hanukkah celebration in December (the day after Christmas) when Sister and Jim would have more time to spend in town and when it felt more like the holiday season. In retrospect it probably would have been nice to split it all up and not have one thing after another, but it was a still a great time.
Asher started out in an AWFUL mood... but luckily Aunt Robin had the magic touch that night because no one else could seem to turn him around except for her! We let the two of them play and do their thing and didn't pressure him to eat dinner with everyone.
Once we finished up with dinner and Asher was in better spirits, we headed downstairs for the celebration to begin. I think this is the first year is who knows how long that I did not take a picture of all the piles of presents everywhere before we started.
Asher's first present was Buzz Lightyear from Uncle Jim and Aunt Sara. Once we finally got it opened and out of the packaging Asher had no interest in opening any other presents. He was absolutely fascinated by his buzz lightyear and all his buttons, sounds and lasers.
While Asher was busy playing with buzz, it gave everyone time to open their presents!
Finally with a little coaxing from Aunt Whitney and Kiki, Asher opened the rest of his presents!

After our Hanukkah celebration we came upstairs for coffee and dessert and surprised dad by celebrating his 69th birthday. This was a rough year for dad with a total of 3 back surgeries and quite a different lifestyle than he is accustomed to. We wanted to make it special so we sent an email to everyone he knows and asked everyone to write a little something for a special scrapbook that Sister and I put together for him to look through and always be reminded of how influential he is to everyone and just how much he is loved! Lots of people through the various stages in dads life contributed and the book turned out great! It was really neat to read what everyone had to say about our Dear ole Dad!
Happy Birthday Daddy! We Love You!
