Aruba Vacation

We could not have had a more perfect baby for our vacation. From the flight down there, to throwing the schedule out the window, early mornings, long days, and even the flight home. He was so adaptable to everything. Of course it helped that there was always something to do, something new to see and someone willing to give him attention at all times.

We had a lot of fun, received lots of compliments and still just can not believe just how good he was!

The only hiccup was the first night, but it was a long day, a long flight and he was in a mini size crib in a strange room and actually cut a tooth that night too. After that it was smooth sailing (besides a little bit of newly developing clinginess to mommy)

There were oh so many heart-melting moments and just all around cuteness. Between the 6 of us we snapped over 300 photos. So rather than detailing in writing our vacation, I will post a handful of the pictures here and add some captions. To see all the pics you can view the Aruba album.

In short though, some of Ashers favorite things to do was to sit on the cushy couches by the waterfall in the lobby and people watch (while having people swoon over him... he was always hamming it up), play in the sand, eat sand, play with his bucket of water, drink water from poppy and gigi's cup, snack all day, stand at the edge of the beach and let the waves rush up against his little legs, play in the baby pool, nap in his stroller on the beach and practice walking in the sand.

Our First Morning, Asher had NO fear of the water!
Even giggled when it would rush up and get his little legs wet
He loved to play in the sand, with his bucket of water and shovel.
See the video that followed this photo of him eating the sand

Sunscreen + Nap Time = MAJOR BED HEAD

Fun in the baby Pool
Mommy teaching Asher how to blow bubbles.

The setting for our dinner out at Hadicurari.
Asher was very well behaved and  would NOT stop Flirting with all the pretty exotic waitresses
Well dressed for Dinner!

On the dock after dinner

We spent a lot of time (mornings and late afternoons) in these cushy round chairs.
Asher was mesmerized by the waterfall, and located right in the lobby so he was able to makes lots of new friends.
 Another Beautiful Morning

Took us one day before we got smart and had him take his morning nap in the stroller on the beach
Hey....Look!  Aunt Sara grew boozums!

The sun wears you out.  Time for his afternoon nap.
He looks so big in the mini crib.

A little relaxing before our double date night out.
(We forgot to take pictures of our sushi date night at the Hyatt)
Having breakfast by the waterfall before our visit to the Butterfly Farm.

Check out the blog post with more pictures from our adventure to the Aruba Butterfly Farm
WORN OUT after his adventures at the butterfly garden

Practicing kicking our feet.
Floating on our back
Relaxed and floating...look at his crossed ankles..too cute
Love this family picture...just wish my glasses were not crooked...
Love Palm Trees.  I want to live somewhere where I can see these every day!
Always puts a smile on my face!

Unky Jim Jim is so much fun!

Snacking and drinking from poppys water bottle
He wasn't even supposed to be napping now...but I guess all that swimming wore him out.
I think this is my new happy place!
On the beach with a sweet sleeping baby!
Sister and Jim trying to get the kite down before the rain....
...they were unsuccessful ....the storm/ocean won.

Unky Jim Jim is still fun!  Keeping me entertained while it rains.
Sharing Lovey Puppy with Gigi
Apple Juice Popsicle
Sharing Daddy's Cherry Popsicle...
Much better than the apple juice one mommy made for me...
Beautiful Sunset on our last night there
Dinner on the Patio
A rainbow over the ocean on the morning of our last day.

I think Gigi and Poppy got spoiled getting to spend so much time with their little guy
He thought it was so funny when I was packing the sand down over his legs to bury him

Passed out the minute we got in the car to head to the airport.
It was a fabulous vacation and I'm sad to see it come to an end.  A much different Aruba (and beach) experience than in years past, but still so much fun!  It will be exciting to see Asher year after year and all the new things he will find and get into.
