11 Months Old

How is it even possible that there is only 1 more month till I have a ONE year old?  This has been a huge month developmentally and we are starting to see a little toddler emerge more and more every day. His independence is incredible and he is very clear on what he wants and doesn't want.  We are able to communicate with him a little bit better now, and he is finally starting to pick up on some sign language and hand gestures.

At 11 months old Asher:

  • Wears size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 overnights
  • Wears 9 month size clothes except for 12 month PJS and some pants
  • Weighs about 22.5 lbs (according to mommy's scale)
  • Has 2 bottom teeth
  • Sleeps through the night, and goes to bed a little later because of daylight savings time (asleep by 7:30-8pm)
  • Takes 2 naps a day (usually around 45 minutes to 1.5 hours)
  • Sits up in his bed when he is awake and ready to get out (pulled up in his crib for the first time yesterday)
  • Still drinks 4 bottles a day and eats table food for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Is still a great eater (his newest thing is to put it in his mouth, chew on it and then spit it out or give it to the dog)
  • Has mastered the sippy cup (but still uses bottles for milk)
  • Is very vocal and babbles a lot, and sometimes imitates sounds that we make
  • Makes all sorts of gestures on command:  Claps, Waves, Roll hands (patty cake), Lifts arms in air (How big is Asher?), and his own version of "All Done" in baby sign language when he is finished eating
  • Shakes his head no with a serious face when I say "No, No No"
  • Loves bath time even more since we have moved him into the full size bathtub
  • Recognizes his various care givers and is excited to see them in the morning
  • Is officially crawling and has no problem getting from point A to point B.
  • Moves from sitting, to all fours, to his stomach, to his back, back to his stomach and to sitting again
  • Is starting to pull up and gain more confidence to try and climb
  • Can stand (holding onto something) for long periods of time
  • Is a great shopping buddy and loves to see and touch all the stuff, but is so great about staying in the cart or his stroller
  • Gets excited and bounces when one of his toys makes sounds/music he likes, sees certain characters on Baby Einstein videos,
  • Recognizes the Baby Einstein and Phineas and Ferb theme songs
  • Loves to be outside and very curious as to all the "stuff" on the ground
  • Still loves his puppy and now tries to follow him through the house (he especially loves playing in the dogs water and food bowl)
  • Is morphing into a little boy more and more every day and amazing Mommy and Daddy with his new skills and growing affection towards us
