2.5 Year Check-Up

Asher had his 2.5 year checkup and it was a great visit! Unfortunately we have been to the Drs office about 4 times in the last 2 weeks due to this silly sinus infection and asher's refusal for medicine (we finally found a way that works for all of us). When we got there, he did not want to wait in the waiting room because there were other people in there. So we sat on the bench in the hallway until we got called back. Actually, I sat there and Asher laid there.

This visit had another 5 page document that I had to go through and answer Yes, No, Sometimes questions.  They were all about physical, verbal, and developmental milestones.  I was able to answer yes or sometimes to every question except for 4.  Of all the questions asked, Asher can accomplish all the tasks in question except for putting on a jacket by himself, pulling up his own pants, standing on 1 foot and telling me what is in the picture that he draws.  Dr. Worley was happy with his results.

I guess the good thing about going to do the Dr. so frequently is that you get used to it.  Asher was in a great mood and very happy to see Dr. Worley and very cooperative throughout the entire checkup.  He even greeted her by saying"Hi Doctor Orly".  She said his communication is great and that at his age, she is happy as long as he has at least 100 words in his vocabulary, communicates in 4 word sentences and that we can understand half of what he is saying.  So I think that he far surpassed the communication category.  She said Asher is right on track with other kids his age, and that we should just to continue to work on him engaging with his peers more.  She was impressed with how much he sleeps and that he still will take 2 naps a day if we let him.  Not really a huge check up, and no real updates to his routine or things that we should/should not be doing, and no shots (other than his flu shot).  So hopefully we can steer clear of the doctors office until his 3 year old check-up.

At 2.5 years old, Asher is in the 50% percentile for both height and weight.
Height: 35.5 inches tall 
Weight:  29.25 lbs 
Asher grew 1.5 inches and gained 1.25 pounds since his last check-up.
