Charlay

Minus a little boo boo that put a damper in our Saturday morning, we had a wonderful weekend visiting aunt Sara and uncle him. Asher was so excited when we arrived Friday evening. We let him play and explore, and even stay up until 10pm.  He went down no problem and slept through the night until he woke up bright and early at 6am.
I LOVE THIS PICTURE OF MY BOYS!!

Sara and Jim live in an area called Elizabeth and only one short block from a little village complete with Starbucks. It is so nice to get up in the morning, step outside and walk through the neighborhood. Asher loves being outside and exploring all the new sites. We walked to get some coffee and allow sister and Jim a little longer to sleep.

Then while we were all getting ready for breakfast Asher took a little spill outside and scraped up his knee. Once he got over that, we all walked to Zeda Janes for breakfast. I LOVE being able to walk everywhere. So much easier than packing up the stroller and getting Asher in and out of the car. We sat outside and Asher played with the corn hole set while we waited for our food. They also have a shuffle board set up, which doubles as a great runway for his toy planes (that go with us everywhere these days).

On our walk home Asher kept dozing off. He could not keep his little eyes open, but by the time we got home he WOULD.NOT.SLEEP. We tried everything but no luck.

He was complaining about his knee and was very fussy...until we took him on another walk. We walked all around the shops of Charlotte and ended up at independence park where we spent the rest of our afternoon. He LOVED the park. Not only all the play structures, but especially watching the big boys in the baseball field and collecting and throwing clover flowers. Every time Jim would throw one in the air he would shout a phrase (boom, hi-ya, ba-booey etc). Asher repeated him each time with every throw.

When there were no more clovers to pick we headed back home where all five of us took naps! After 2.5 hours we had to wake Asher up to head for dinner. We ate outside at the crazy fish where Asher was very well behaved. He played with his toy planes and gave stickers to everyone, even the "man" (our waiter).  When all the food came out, he proudly sat straight up in his booster seat and said "Bon Appetite"!  He said it so clearly and was so proud of himself after he said it.  (I read him the book "I Love You Stinky Face" almost daily, and in the book the mom packs her kids lunch with a note that says "Bon Appetite.  Asher always repeats it after I read it, but it was so cool to hear him use it in the right context.  I wonder how long he has been waiting for the opportunity to say that.

Back home and in bed for the little man, who lucky for EVERYONE slept until 7:30 this morning.  This morning we walked up to Sunflower Bakery for breakfast.  DELISH.  After breakfast we played in Sara and Jim's front yard, collecting more clovers and hooping!

We packed up and headed home around 11:30 this morning. Asher was well behaved on the ride home, with the ipad shoved in his face. We only had to make one stop the entire ride home.  And much to my surprise he even fell asleep for the last hour of the ride.  We have a couple more trips lined up this summer, and relieved to know that Asher has become such a good traveling buddy.

We had a great weekend spending time with Sister and Jim and exploring Charlotte.  We cant wait till next month when we meet them at the beach!!
