We have been very fortunate to have not had any major incidents with Asher. Today, he fell down and scraped his knee. Not that I consider this a major incident, but to him it was the end of the world. He cried non stop for a good 15 minutes. He refused every bribe I tried to get him to calm down. He wailed NO to everything. No lovey, no ipad, no iphone, no juice box, no cookies.... There was just no consoling him. Finally we popped him in the stroller and walked to breakfast, where he was pretty calm, all things considered. I put a bandaid on his boo boo, which served as a constant reminder. Every time he looked down and saw his bandaid he started crying all over again. Of course all the drama could have been exaggerated due to skipping his second nap yesterday, going to bed at 10pm, and then waking up at 6am this morning.
After breakfast we walked back home with high hopes for a morning nap (about 1.5 hours past his usual nap time). His nap was NOT successful. He cried and cried and cried. I even went back in his room to rock him to sleep, but the minute it put him back in the pack and play he turned on the water works again. We knew he must have been exhausted, so let him cry on and off for a good hour, before finally giving in and surrendering nap time.
He was thrilled when aunt Sara went to rescue him, and then we walked all around town, and ended up at the park (pictures in another post)
Throughout the day he continued to say "knee hurt", which breaks my heart.
This was not a major incident by any means, and the first of what I'm sure will be countless boo boos, just the price to pay of being a boy's momma. Hopefully the more falls and accidents will increase his pain tolerance.
