Freeman Family Fun Day

Nick and I took the day off on Wednesday for Freeman Family Fun day!  We have heard all sorts of great things about the children's museum, Imagine It, downtown.

After a great morning nap, we took Asher to his first experience at The Varsity!  We even ran into Wheeler there on his lunch break!  What's not to love about  a greasy burger, fries, onion rings and a varsity orange?!  Of course Asher ate very well, and once he had a sip of my orange drink, he wouldn't give it back!  Then we were on our way to the Museum

It was a gross, cold, wet and rainy day, but we ventured out anyways.  I think the weather combined with it being the middle of the week allowed us to virtually have the entire museum to ourselves.   Nick and I were a little disappointed with the museum.   I think I was expecting something more similar to Sci-trek (the best science museum that we use to have in ATL) and Nick expected it to be a little more interactive.  Asher still had fun, but probably would have had just as much fun if we took him to Hobby Town and let him run around there for the afternoon!  None the less, we both had the day off of work and got to spend time with each other and our little man, so even though we were slightly disappointed in the museum we had a great day!

The museum was one big room that had different sections (probably about 6-7).  The first section is the farm to table. Asher had a good time pretending to drive the tractor.  He attempted to "milk" the cow, but as soon as the cow let out a loud MOOO, (which scared Asher), he steered clear the rest of the day.

Part of the farm to table section was shopping for your groceries.  Of course once Asher saw that mini shopping cart, he didn't care about anything else around him.  A couple of times, nick and I put the shopping cart back, but Asher ended right back at it pushing it around.

Another parto of the farm to table exhibit was the delivery truck.  There were two steering wheels inside, controls and even a bunch of empty cardboard boxes with a rolling ramp thing to pass the boxes from the front to to the back of the truck.  Asher showed absolutely no interest in that.  Instead, he walked up and down the ramp of the truck for about 10 minutes.

Not sure what the Big Banana slide had to do with anything, but Asher liked it!

We were excited when we saw that the Magic Schoolbus was on exhibit.  Asher has a wheels on the bus app on the iphone that he loves and always is walking around saying "Bus, Bus, Bus".  But it was not really a school bus like that for him to play with.  It was an exhibit with things out of the book the magic school bus, and since we have not read that book, it meant nothing to us...except for the  chest of doors and drawers that asher enjoyed opening and closing

He was very excited and started clapping when he found a TV...and one situated in a table with buttons that you can push is a plus too

The moon sand station was really cool!  Nick and I enjoyed playing with it. Its 100% sand textured, but the sand stuck to itself (like clay) and not to us!  I was like sculpting clay with a sandy finish.

Mom saw a little area with some kids sized tap shoes and had to squeeze a pair on to give Asher a little demonstration, although he had no interest in what I was doing...

This reminded me of an exhibit at sci-treck.  All about levers, pulleys, knobs etc. Tons of plastic balls that you could put into various holes and then pull the lever, crank the knob, pull the weight and the balls would go from tube to tube!

We saved the water station for last!  We knew he would like that, and didnt want to risk being wet for our entire visit.  They have these adorable little rain coats there for the kids to wear!  Asher could have stayed here the entire afternoon!

The treehouse back in the water station was pretty cool too!

One of the areas that he enjoyed the most was the under 2 area.  Just a small little play area (no shoes allowed) with a bunch of soft toys, sensory toys and tubes to crawl through.

The baby sized water bed was pretty neat too!  At this point, I was wishing it was big enough for momma to curl up in too!
