Tie dye day

One of Ashers favorite shirts is an aqua blue tie dye. We have looked for other tie dye shirts for our little heady baby but can't seem to find any that are not from some online retailer charging $20+ for a onesie. Solution? Freeman family tie dye day!

We went to Michael's in the morning and bought the kit. One big package with everything we needed to get started. We already had solid white onesies in assorted sizes so this was a low cost project!

Asher had a great time sitting outside watching us roll and band up our shirts.

We used three different methods. The swirl, the tube, and the fold.

Next, we had to mix up the dye. It came in powder form that you just pour into the supplied squirt bottles, add water, shake and voila...dye. Our dyes came out more faded looking because I wanted to save powder to make another round of shirts now that we have the technique down. Then we had to decide on colors for each shirt and also how to apply the dye. Apparently it makes a difference.

We let them sit wrapped up in plastic overnight, then rinsed real good in cold water, then again in hot. Then two rounds through the washing machine and now were ready to show off our cool designs.
