DAY 12, SANDING AND FINAL COAT
Wendi started the day by sanding the second coat on the walls, ceilings and corners. While Wendi was busy sanding, Nick was measuring and cutting the final pieces of concrete board for the shower. These final pieces were the most difficult because he had to cut a section of the board out for the lip of the shower which is sloped...so it was very precise measurements and since the tile is not on the shower pan yet, he had to be very careful when installing it. It took a couple of trips in and outside to get the first board to fit perfectly, but the second one went in on the first try. Of course...there is one more piece needed and we are all out of concrete board. In the meantime the second coat of joint compound is all sanded and smooth, Wendi is covered in white powder and we apply the final coat to the necessary places. While we wait for the third coat to dry, we used the mortar in the shower to cover the seams and screw holes (same process as joint compound to drywall)
