DAY 16: STARTING SHOWER WALLS

We have been dreading tackling the shower walls, but today was the day. We tried a bunch of different patterns and finally decided what we wanted to do, and the best way to achieve the angled look that we wanted. Of course what we want to do requires more cuts and is a little more difficult, but it will be worth it in the end. We dry fit the bottom of all three walls. Nick spread the mortar on the walls (a little more difficult on a vertical surface) and Wendi secured the tiles. We learned the hard way that you have to install one layer at a time and let the mortar harden before you can move your way up the walls. It was a lot of work to get the first row across the bottom to line up but once we let it harden the following layers were a little bit easier, were on the home stretch but just ready to be finished with the tiling phase of this project.
