4th of July Weekend Photo Dump

The weather this Forth of July weekend was not desirable. It pretty much rained on and off all day, every day.  Nick and I had four straight days off, and despite our wishes, we did hardly spent any of it outside.  Lots of down time, lots of snuggling, lots of eating and lots of playing inside!

On Friday we toured 4 different pre-schools for Asher.  The first one we went to was the best, most expensive and of course our favorite.  They set the bar high for all the other schools that we toured.  The highlight of this school for Asher was the amazing gym, complete with junior rock wall, floor trampolines and a foam pit.

Pouring rain and killing time before picking up dinner to bring to Poppy (since Gigi is out of town) I figured I would take him to Trader Joes and experience the cuteness for myself (Gigi is always sending me pictures and videos of him shopping).  He turned out to be the perfect little shopping buddy.

Picking up dinner, Asher was enthralled with the dessert carousel. (I gave into his cuteness, and my desire for Oreo Cheescake)

Poppy licking Asher's fingers clean after he spoiled him with the Oreo Cheesecake AND Ice-cream.

Just our messy boy after eating toast and jelly.

I love my little artist.  He was very deliberiate with each and every brush stroke he makes.  He also followed instructions very well and would always rince his brush, wipe it off, dip it in paint, paint and then repeat the process for each new color!

We HAD to escape, after being inside all day, so we took a trip to Babies R Us and grabbed a bite to eat at Taco Mac.  We bought a big boy potty and when we got home asher wanted to pee pee.  So I took off his diaper and let him walk around bottomless.  He sat on the potty 2 times and nothing happened, then the third time he sat down...PEE PEE!!!  You should have seen nick and I cheering and singing for him like a bunch of crazy people!  He hasn't used his potty since then (probably traumatized from nick and I) but still progress and we are SO PROUD!!

We had Ryder's 2nd birthday party on sunday, which forced us to leave the house and spend some time outside, even in the rain.  It worked out pretty well, because his birthday party was at the Roswell Splash Pad, so even though it was raining, we were all dressed for the water.  Asher had a great time playing with all his friends, the bubbles, the mud puddles and of course the splash pad too!

Asher has not seen Bennet since his last Wednesday at Paulas a couple of months ago.  It was so cute to see these two guys re-unite.  As Matt, Paula, Nick and I stood under the pavilion  we watched the boys carry on conversations with each other, and at one point, they even turned around and pointed at us and continued to talk.

After tons of fun in the sun rain, we headed home for naps!  We woke up to the perfect Sunday evening.  Daddy smoked boneless ribs on the big green egg and corn on the Cobb.  Then, we decided to finish out our weekend with a trip to Brewsters!

Daddy let Asher taste his ice cream cone.  This was his first ice cream cone and he went straight for the bottom and took a bite off the end!  Rookie move little man...rookie move!

Asher was SO good all weekend long, despite being cooped up in the house for most of it.  Although we complained about the weather and not being able to spend time outside, it was also nice to just stay home, relax and spend time with each other with nothing else to do.  Monday morning is gonna be a rough one.  Mondays are hard enough, but even harder after a long weekend with my fam!
